Learning Something New

As an artist, I'm always working on something. Whether it's to continue mastering my craft or just something for fun/hobby, I love learning new things, styles, etc.

If you've followed me for years, you know I'm a designer, illustrator, painter, etc. I've done a lot of digital illustrations and I love learning new methods and skills.

I've had to slow down for January and February for personal reasons that I'm not ready to share online, however it involves a lot of laying around. I came across an ad for a Procreate course by Kris Lauren of Pretty Little Lines called Flower & Botanical - Drawing & Watercolor Masterclass. Naturally, one thing led to another and I also purchased her Pretty Little Sketchbook Creator. Let me say, I am obsessed with these!

The idea behind the sketchbook creator is that you can create your own digital sketchbook by mixing and matching all sorts of graphics or by using a pre-made graphic to use within Procreate. Then, to accompany the sketchbook, you can add a tutorial page that shows you step by step how to digitally draw and paint the tutorial you've chosen.

I've been having so much fun with these as just a fun, daily practice, especially while I'm just sitting around, healing. Between the course and the sketchbook prompts, I've been able to learn new ways of using my Procreate watercolor brushes, new ways to sketch botanicals, and just having fun overall.

So, yeah. That's what I've been working on lately. I love getting to share new things I've found that are fun that put zero pressure on my professional creativity in other areas. It's a wonderful outlet!

I haven't completed the course in totality just yet, but when I do, I'll post a full review for you to see! I hope you enjoyed this post!
