It’s still surreal to me… The idea that I’ve taken my business from a little “artist’s office” in our house up north to what has been lovingly become known as my “big girl space.” I’ve been in business for almost 9 years and I have just completed my first year in my own studio/store front. I remember it being scary. I remember signing the papers and, within a few days, wondering if I had just made the biggest mistake of my life. It’s easy to run a business on relatively low monthly overhead, but to all of a sudden have a rent to pay that wasn’t for the dwelling we lived in was foreign, scary, and terrifying. Knowing me, though, I knew I had made the right decision. I’ve never been the kind to back away from risk because the reward is usually worth it.
Being in the studio for this past year has been incredible. I’ve met so many wonderful people, heard stories of love and loss, busted my giant pregnant self working right up until I gave birth to Clara, gained friends, established new business roots, formed bonds with the local businesses, given back, hired my first employee (non-contracted) and so much more. My life has been so enriched and moving to the studio has only added to that.
Just a few weeks ago, I signed a renewal for the next two years, so 601 Market Street Saint Augustine, FL 32095 will be JSP’s home for at least another two years. I also wanted to give a shout out to my dear “bunk mate” Frankie with The Eventful Gals. She shares the space with me and our camaraderie is perfect for each others business needs.
So with that, I celebrate our accomplishments and look forward to seeing where life takes my business over the next two years and what the space will continue to become. I have some lofty goals and I know with God, prayer, and all of the wonderful people in my life, those goals will happen. I’m so thankful to be in this place in my life and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Happy 1 year!
Here are some of my favorites from this past year in the studio.
