I recently had the amazingly fun opportunity to fly back to Colby and I’s favorite city to shoot an engagement session for James and Kim, who recently moved there. When Kim inquired last year, I knew right away that we would be an awesome fit. I was so excited when I found out she was moving to Chicago, but at the same time, I was super jealous! Now, don’t get me wrong, I love being here with my family and friends, which is why we moved back here, but man, if we could live in Chicago with our family and friends, we would love to call that place home again. Needless to say, after they moved, they were both incredibly busy with relocating, starting their new jobs, and getting settled, so flying back to FL for their engagement session was kind of a far stretch. Before I knew it, we got to fly to Chicago to shoot their engagement session.
We did two separate sessions. I really wanted to do a night session with the gorgeous city lights, but because I didn’t have an assistant (Colby had to stay with Carly) I wasn’t comfortable busting out all of my flash gear and leaving it for whoever wanted to steal it while I was taking pictures, so instead, I used the beautiful city lights. I also took a more fine art approach to this part of the shoot because not only is fine art photography something I’d like to incorporate more into my work, but James and Kim have a travel themed wedding with all sorts of vintage touches, which I think, made for perfect fine art. I’ll have more on Part 2 later this week, but for now, here is part one. We had so much fun and they both looked fabulous!
PS, one day, I’d love to shoot a wedding completely in black and white, fine art style, so if you know anyone looking for a black and white wedding, send them my way!
