Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite holidays of the year. Not only is it usually cold outside, it’s usually surrounded by either family or just my warm, cozy hubby. The last 5 Thanksgivings and Christmas’ have been spent in Illinois. Most of them have been just Colby and I, which we loved and will always treasure, but this year, it was in Florida and surrounded by a bunch of my family. First, in Florida, it is NOT cold. Second, there is ZERO snow down here, as is expected, but it certainly made for a different feeling for Thanksgiving. Nonetheless, we loved being surrounded by family.
This year was also special because my little brother’s girlfriend, and friend of mine, Corrie, and I planned Thanksgiving out for the last 2 months. From invitations, to decorations, and the menu, we worked every week to pull this together. We even came up with a dessert that we’ve decided to name “Team Awesome Thanksgiving Day Trifle.” It was delicious to say the least! My mom, dad, little brother Kevin, Corrie, my Grandpa Sam, my brother Menachem, his wife, Sharon, and their almost 6 month old baby Esther, Colby’s step brother Cole, and his girlfriend Viana came to celebrate Thanksgiving with us. We had a wonderful time with great food!
I was so busy cooking that I didn’t have a chance to photograph everything and everyone, but I have to say, I definitely needed the break from being “THE photographer” that day. It was enough to have put this together but to also have spent two days cooking, many days cleaning and unpacking the rest of our things that Colby uHaul-ed down from Illinois. The last thing I needed was to worry about capturing every moment. I would have loved to but there just wasn’t any time and I needed a break, so thanks to Sharon for the point and shoot photos that help us to remember this Thanksgiving that are posted to Facebook!
